Iowa high school football playoffs 2024: Round of 32 matchups for 2A, 1A, A, 8-Player

Iowa high school football postseason first round pairings in Class 2A, 1A, A and 8-Player were announced by the Iowa High School Athletic Association on Saturday morning.

First the games begin at 7.00 p.m in the Friday, 25thOctober.

There are 32 qualifiers in each class and the application file with appendices are attached herewith.

Some teams were promoted based on their finish in the district standings qualification where the top four teams in each district in 2A, 1A and A emerged. Eight districts of 8-Player qualification with the top three from each district received an automatic bid. Fourth placed Exira-EHK and Tripoli earned two at large positions with average margin system not exceeding 17 points per district match.

Of course, there are no brackets here in the playoffs current at the time of this writing. These 16 first round winners will be drawn into sets of four next saturday. The four teams that win those brackets move on the state semifinals at the UNI-Dome.

The class 5A, 4A and 3A teams have one week left in the regular season. One of those classes, for example, comprises 16 postseason qualifiers. For those brackets, there will also be reveals next Saturday.

Waukon (3-5) at Anamosa (7-1)

Chariton (4-4) at Carroll Kuemper (7-1)

Union Community is 3-5 to date while Mid-Prairie has won five of its last three games.

Monticello at North Fayette Valley

Christian 4-4 Des Moines at Monroe PCM: PCM 8-0

Cherokee (6-2) G at Spirit Lake (7-1)

5-3 Albia at 7-1 Van Meter

Also on the bill Garner GHV (2-6) travelling to West Lyon (8-0)

Third place at second place

Greene County enters the week with a 4-4 record while the Clarinda team is 6-2 on the season.

Foresters (4-4) travelled to Central Lyon/George-Little Rock Trojans (5-3)

Mediapolis (4-4) at Northeast (7-1).

5-3 Western Christian at 6-2 Okoboji

Jesup (4-4) at Osage (5-3)

This weeks game pits Crestwood, a team with a 3-5 record, against the Roland-Story team with 6-2 records.

Quarterfinal play begins on Thursday with SC 潞.hashCode = 4-4¼ tackling West Burlington/Notre Dame (7-1¾)

Friday – Regional Semifinals Ogden(2-6) at Dike-New Hartford (7-1)

Grundy Center (8-0) hosting Eddyville EBF (2-6).

Shenandoah is 3-5, and they are set to challenge Ida Grove OABCIG which stands at the 6-2 record.

West Branch (6-2) at Sigourney-Keota (7-1)

Conference: West Sioux (3-5) vs Treynor (7-1)

Aplington-Parkersburg (II-6) at Wilton (VII-1)

Sac has dispatched 5, East Sac County 3-5 to Woodward-Granger 7-1.

Third place at second place

Hinton (7-1) at Avoca AHSTW (6-2)

The next match is between Sumner-Fredericksburg with 5-3 on their side and Dyersville Beckman with 6-2.

Grand View Christian (5-3) will face Emmetsburg (7-1).

This one features another ranked team from IA as it hosts another IA team ; Iowa City Regina 7-1 against Pleasantville 6-2

Underwood’s four and four at Ridge View with its 6-2 record

South Central Sioux Central (5-3) and South Hamilton (4-4).

Pella Christian came into the game with a record of 3 and 5 while on the other side of the fence South Hardin is 7 and 1.

Setting the stage for Wayne which is 5-3 and Guthrie Center ACGC 8-0.

The final two games scheduled are Council Bluffs St. Albert (3-5) against Le Mars Gehlen (7-1) at Akron-Westfield.

Starmont 5-3 at Lisbon 8-0

North Tama now is 4-4 and Madrid’s record is 6-2.

Fourth-seeded Columbus Community entered the contest with a 4-4 record while Maquoketa Valley came into the game with a 7-1 record.

Four-and-four South Central Calhoun’s game this week is at Tri-Center, a team that is also seven and one.

Lake Mills 4-4 at Wapsie Valley 6-2

Hartley HMS (3-5) at West Hancock (8-0)

Third place at second place

Danville 4-4 at Bellevue West 5-3

Last year, very closely matched teams faced each other in the Logan-Magnolia school with a record of 5 thrashings and 3 losses and the Marcus MMCCRU School with a record of 6 thrashings and two losses.

East Moline Earlham (6-2) at Mt. Ayr (6-2)

Newman of Mason City (4-4) will face Nashua-Plainfield (5-3).

In the second Class 3A game of the round North Linn with record 6-2 will play Pekin which comes to the game having a record of 7-1.

Fifth ranked Lynnville-Sully (5-3) traveling to the sixth ranked Oakland Riverside (6-2)

He last week played for South Winneshiek of the 4-AA provincial league with a 4-4 win/loss record and the current league leaders Saint Ansgar of the 4-AA league with a 7-1 record.

Sibley-Ocheyedan won 5 of 3 games is going to play against Woodbury Central that has won 6 games out of the 2 they played.

At-large at first place

Saturday, Tripoli Middle School (3-5) at Algona Garrigan (8-0).

Exira-EHK dropped to 3-5 overall while the winless Lenox squad is now 8-0.

Sixth ranked Southeast Warren reached the semi final match after beating third ranked Campbell (51-38) on March 2, seven ranked Iowa Valley on the other hand moved to the semi final match after beating sixth ranked Lone Tree (41-38) also on March 2.

It is the game between eighth seed Bedford coming from section two with an overall record of 7-1 as they are going to take on seventh seed Belle Plaine coming from section four with 7-1 record on their back.

That is 7 victories against only one loss for WACO and Central City is 6-3.
