Stakes are getting higher: 9 Week 6 HS football games to watch as the playoffs approach
From week six most of the high school football teams from around the state will be in MetroWest and the Milford area. Or they already reside there.
In any case, it is a week of mega clash of titans and high risk/reward games.
Today 11 area football teams come in at least seeded in the division’s playoff field. Four are one spot or two away and in potential win and in scenarios.
From the Division 6 teams, only No. 1 Hudson team enters the coming games unbeaten. The Hawks will be travelling to North Middlesex this week for what is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. during Friday.
Here are nine Week 6 high school football games to watch in MetroWest and the Milford area:
Medway (4-2) vs Norton (4-2), Thursday at 6 p.m
Both squads will be competing for the Tri-Valley League Small championship, although, a victory will be substantially more helpful for the Mustangs who are competing near the tail end of the pack. The Lancers have positioned themselves nicely for the Division 5 playoff field ranking 11th. Medway could use a win to advance to the tournament as the 17th ranked team as twenty teams qualify for the tournament. Lancers quarterback Ethan Rodriguez also appears well-conditioned to throw a touchdown and made three last week.
Game 15: Holliston (3-3) vs. Ashland (3-3) 6.00 pm Friday
From small to large. The Panthers X could hit the division leaders on the throat, but for that they will have to taste the clockers for the third time in under a year achieving a cumulative score of 3-0 in the league . Ashland is one place outside the Division 4 playoff spot and would likely move up a peg with a win here. They are led by the tough to balk running back Kevin Ozuluma, who is also a formidable linebacker. Connor Teague runs, catches passes, throws passes, punts, returns kicks, and he even kicks for Holliston.
Wellesley (5-1) travels to take on Natick (5-1) Friday at 6 p.m.
There is someone’s three game win streak that must come to an end. Today the raiders stand at 4-0, placing them at the top of the Bay State Carey League. They are scoring over 36 points per game while on their current winning run and this is the sensational sophomore quarterback Lukas Prock. The Redhawks will rely a lot on its effective ground in their?Sam Hubbard. Ever since Needs 41 points on Sept. 13, their defense have not allowed any competing team to score more than seven points. Both are playoff contenders, as they would host a playoff game were the season to end this week. A show was fantastic and definitely worth paying for it.
Bellingham (3-3) at Dover-Sherborn (2-4), 6:30 p.m. Friday
Coyotes’ three-game losing streak doesn’t look like a problem of the past for the Blackhawks. They have registered successive victories against Medway and Millis aided by a robust Gabe Egan in an attacking emulators and Zach Berkeley a great tactician in the playing field. The Raiders are on a poor form , with victory in only one out of the last five games. This team has now been shut out twice and has conceded more than 30 points on four occasions. Even a win will see Bellingham put itself in the drivers seat for a repeat of the previous year’s TVL Small championship.
Algonquin (4-2) vs Wachusett (3-3), 7 PM on Friday
What next from him? Riding high off of an all-time great performance, Owen Ellsworth and the Titans are back at home to face a perilous D1 team. Mountaineers quarterback Thomas Anderson has thrown for 1,211 yards to place fourth in Central Mass in the category and is second in the region with 14 touchdown passes. Algonquin of course remains the favorite to be standing tall at the top of the Mid-Wach A Formation with a win in their pigskin battle.
Arlington (1-5) versus Lexington (4-2), 3:45 p.m. Monday Assabet Valley (1-5) at Blackstone Valley Tech (4-2), 7 p.m. Friday
Two of Central Mass.’ most up-and-coming team will face each other when the Beavers travel north of 495. Sudbury’s Franki Lopriore III has 142 yards rushing, 119 receiving and four touchdowns. He has also made 44.5 tackle, which ranked eighth in the region. On the other side is BVT’s Nick Whitlock, who gives highlight reels leading Central Mass with an average of 23.1 yards per catch. He has five touchdowns and has made 24 tackles.
These games include Wayland hosting Bedford, ranked 5th with a record of 5-1 playing 4th ranked Bedford with a record of 4-2 in the game scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
Will the Warriors sustain their blistering form during the Dual County League? Wayland has only in three DCL games has only surrendered one touchdown. But The Buccaneers should have offered a vastly different challenge. Bedford quarterback Ryan McGrath was a tyrant last week against Newton south with 3 rushing touchdowns and a 6/6 performance through the air for another touchdown while completing 152 yards. Currently both teams are in the Division 4 playoff field and are competing for seeds.
Maynard/AMSA (4-2) at Oakmont (4-2), 7 p.m. on Friday
Better hurry and catch a ticket to the show calling Dylan Gallo. He has torched secondaries for 1,608 yards and 23 touchdowns passing this year, the most in central Mass. Gallo has also ran for another 291 yards and six scores. The Gaels will respond with treacherous Triad of running backs. Connor Cox followed by 356 yards, three touchdowns, Naughton 342 yards with three touchdowns; Casella 337 yards and six touchdowns. Oakmont is once again on the outside of Division 6 playoff contention, meanwhile the Tigers are seeded 12th.
King Philip at Milford at 7 p.m. on Friday, 6-0 for KP, 3-3 for Milford
The defending Division 2 state champions the Warriors have won their last eighteen games from the start of the 2023 season. The Scarlet Hawks initially won between the periods of 2019-2020, during the Fall II season. Milford is coming off its most dominant performance of the year after a 46-0 victory over Sharon. The Warriors will be relying in their dynamic runners Drew Laplante and Tallan King. King Philip has blanked its last two opponents and has surrendered no more than 14 points in one game so far.
