Harris campaign announces $40 million raised since her convention speech

The Harris campaign also stated on Sunday that both the campaign and its supporters raised $40 million in the aftermath of Harris’ speech at the DNC on Thursday.

This money takes the overall cash in the kitty for Harris’ electoral pursuits to $540 million since Biden quit the presidential race on July 21 and backed Harris, the campaign said.

Because the next Federal Election Commission data is September 20, NBC News cannot verify the numbers on its own.

A third in contributions for the last week came from first-time givers, as highlighted in the memo of campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon. She also pointed out that as soon as Harris gave her Thursday night speech the campaign and supporters “witnessed our greatest fundraising hour since launch day. ”

An amount does trace back to the Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee and joint fundraising committees, she said.

She described the convention as a “galvanizing moment,” and noted that I am “taking no voters for granted and communicating relentlessly with battleground voters every single day between now and Election Day — all the while Trump is obsessed with very little beyond angry tweets and berating the voters who will decide the electoral map. ”

Harris’ volunteers who are working on the election campaign have offered to work for nearly 200000 shifts since Monday, said O’Malley Dillon who described it as the biggest week of organizing since the start of the campaign.

The news comes as Harris and her vice presidential partner Governor Tim Walz get set for a two-day bus tour in Georgia, on Wednesday. Harris will be attending a rally in Savannah on Thursday and this is following the cancellation of the campaign that she was supposed to make in Savannah this month after Tropical Storm Debby disrupted the event.

For hours at the Democratic National Convention, one speaker after another called on voters to do something for Harris’ victory campaign.

“We can’t afford to let mornings get to work or feel sleepy, start to get that feeling coming back, then say, you know what I am just going to sleep,” stated Michelle Obama, the former first lady on s Tuesday night.

“I’m asking you to join in committing your whole heart to this cause — that is where mine will be,” Biden said during the first night of the convention.

As financial discloser of the previous month revealed, the Democratic presidential campaign received $204 million in July. Biden was the candidate at the head of the ticket until the latter withdrew his candidacy on July 21 to endorse Harris to be his running mate.

Specifically, data obtained from ActBlue, the organisation that endeavours to facilitate the processing of online contributions to democrats, suggested that Harris’ campaign for the election collect $39. 8m on the day when Biden withdrew from the race.

Donald Trump’s campaign in one of its best months in July but still only collected a paltry sum of $47, which is less than a fourth of what its opponent brought in. 5 million that month, thus disclosure made in a campaign finance report.
