Franklin (Maryland) high school football player collapses, dies at practice
The Franklin Maryland Indians high school football community is in mourning following the death of 16-year old Leslie Noble, a junior guard on the varsity Indian football team who collapsed during practice, yesterday morning, Wednesday and died.
Noble was a starter for the Indians as a freshman season and at the same time played basketball for the school; he dropped during a practice session. Frantic emergency medical personnel arrived at the Franklin football field approximately at 9:15 a. m. and allegedly gave CPR to Noble before taking him to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.
It was their first practice since they returned in the fall. It was relatively cool in the region with the temperatures ranging in the low 70s on the Wednesday morning and during the drills, the team was not in pads. The event that took place, as per one of the parents who observed the practice, happened soon after the practice began.
From the Baltimore Sun, it was reported that Noble was so badly bizarre that he was for the most part unconscious when the emergency call was made. The Baltimore County police dispatchers reported that one of the ‘players’ had a ‘heatstroke. ’
This comes after a similar event in Alabama a 14-year old; New Brockton high football player Semaj Wilkins collapsed and died from a medical emergency during practice.
In response to a phone inquiry from the Sun, a spokesman for the Baltimore Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said that Noble would be autopsied to identify the cause of his death.
