Ohio State commit Bo Jackson has big night for Villa Angela-St. Joseph in season opener

Lamar “Bo” Jackson has one last year of high school football left before going to Villa Angela-St. Joseph before they traveled to Columbus where they are currently representing Ohio State. And the 4-star running back did not disappoint as he began his final year of high school football with a 42-7 victory over the GlenOak Warriors on Friday night. 
 
Jackson was very effective in the game in 2024 opener; he was Richt’s workhorse, and he carried the ball 13 time for 172 yards and three times. He also had an ability to catch screen pass for 21 yards. 
 
”Thank God for the opportunity to be out here senior year, first game and be able to make plays and get the win,” Jackson said. 
 
Jackson began making his effect on the match right at the beginning of the game where GlenOak kicked it to avoid giving Jackson the ball in the kick off. 
 
Then the moment VASJ entered the playing field in the offense mode, Jackson got the ball on the first two plays. On the first, he started and went for 12 yards going off the right side. And then on the second carry of the game for the senior tailback, he broke off a run of 46 yards for a touchdown. 
 
In the last play, he received the ball for the handoff and headed left toward the line of the sideline where he made his cut across the field, and avoiding the tackles. From the shot he got it at about the GlenOak twenty-five, he veered to the centre of the field. concluded the play and almost reached the end zone virtually untouched to give the Vikings the lead, 22 seconds into the game. 
 
‘I am just coming out and trying to be the aggressor,’ said Jackson of that first series. “(I want) big plays and get out here and start the season off great. ” 
 
Jackson made a 45-yard touchdown before half-time then made another 3-yard touchdown at the beginning of the second part of the game. During the first half of the match, he rushed for 160 yards, making only 10 carries while he had only three carries in the second half when the Vikings was leading 35- 7 on halftime. 
 
Jackson came into his senior year billed as the top running back recruit and the fifth best recruit overall in Ohio’s 2025 class according to 247Sports . com and the the No. 3 overall running back in the country in 2025. Listed under athletes on the On3 database. In reviews done by sporting com, he is ranked the 4 th best athlete in the United States and the best in Ohio. 
 
After gaining a total of more than 1,700 rushing yards with 28 touchdowns, and being awarded First-Team All-Ohio in Division III last season, the 6-foot, 205-pound running back was accumulating college offers. At the end, he had about two dozen invitations, with Georgia, Alabama and Michigan and Notre dame invitations standing out. He also had offer from Auburn were the original Bo Jackson played and won the Heisman Trophy in 1985. 
 
But when the competition was over, it was Ohio State University that won Jackson over. 
 
Ohio State is a serious program and Jackson said, “When I was there , I could just tell they care and how they develop their players. ” 
 
A last and final advantage of playing for his college career in the Buckeye State was the fact that Columbus was less than two hours away from home. 
 
“It’s right near my home, two hours away,” This was the response of Jackson. Though this is not like I will be catching a flight in the near future.
