John Cena on Why Trainwreck Sex Scene With Amy Schumer Was “Real Embarrassing”

Considering the fact that John Cena has had more than his fair share of racy scenes in various Hulkamania scenes, of course, none of them can be exactly comfortable.

From his Oscars prank in 2024 to the name ‘Jackpot!’, actor remembered some of the early days and embarrassing moments in his career during the recent interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay podcast. This includes a hilarious love making scene that he did with Amy Schumer in ‘Trainwreck’ released in 2015 where Cena pretends to be the girlfriend’s boyfriend.

“Amy is an angel, she made a very comfortable environment and then when I got the part they were like, ‘Yeah this scene is actually a sex scene’ and then we got in to shoot the scene and they explained that instead of me speaking all those lines they wanted me to perform elaborate and naughty stunt sex,” Cena said.

“This is like a great production,” the WWE star went on, “But dude, man, catering was right there and the sound tent was right there. ” “I was surprised how many people are involved in making a movie; it is not intimate at all; it is quite embarrassing and doing a comedic sex scene, which means making fun of one self, they said, ‘make love in the most awkward way you can’.

But that was not the end of Cena’s memories from the battleground, for he had one worse than this. The actor who portrayed ‘Ricky Stanicky’ said his Oscars sketch much earlier this year wherein he was almost fully exposed to moving while presenting an award was much worse.

“I get out there standing before a room full of my peers – many of which I’ve never even spoken to because I haven’t worked my way up to meeting [them]”, he said. “I have the most decorated performers, producers, directors in one room and I will go out there, with my balls in the wind, you know, with an index card covering my stuff like, ‘Hey guys, is this funny? Are we good?’”

In the subsequent days, Schumer also addressed Cena’s comments on the Trainwreck sex scene in a podcast episode; she later shared her thoughts about the same by sharing her Instagram Story.

‘John, how dare you,’ said she, joking in a video. ‘The actual physical intimacy viz. the sex scene was huge to me and I was, I don’t know, really invested. And I am in love with you. ’
