When is the next US presidential election debate? How to watch Trump v Harris
After months of dispute, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have finally accepted to grace a live TV debate in the coming US election.
US vice president will square it out with Trump after the former president accepted after weeks of the Harris team accusing him of dodging the encounter.
This is the first time that the two are meeting in a debate and this comes at a time the race to the White House has shifted since Joe Biden withdrew last month.
In the head-to-head debate held in June, Trump evaded Mr Biden – and the aftermath of his spectacle led to the withdrawal of the US president in the electoral process.
New surveys show that Ms Harris could be ahead of Trump by at least six points boosted by the nomination of a running mate, Tim Walz.
Trump has now agreed to debate with Ms Harris following having changed his mind earlier in the past.
Last week he said that he refused to debate on ABC and that his contract with ABC has been cancelled. Thursday, he did an about face — and attempted to twist Harris into agreeing to three more debates in September.
Here is all the information about the Harris v Trump debate:
When is the debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump to be staged?
The debate is to take place on September the 10th.
Existence of the debate and its location
ABC is sponsoring the debate and it is planned to be conducted in the evening, during the prime time.
This ceremony will likely be broadcasted LIVE on ABC and simultaneously be available on the 24/7 network ABC News Live, the ABC app, and the ABC website .
It is also intended to air on Hulu and through connected devices through Roku, AppleTV, and Amazon Fire TV.
As you may be aware I was unsure of who is moderating the debate?
The moderators have not been named but Linsey Davis and David Muir were to moderate the second Biden v Trump debate that had been planned for Sep 10.
In what manner or format is the debate run?
It has not been revealed whether the form of the debate will be aggregate or sequential. The structure of the last debate between Trump and Mr Biden was decided, and participants had some rules: the amount of speaking time, no audience, and switched-off microphones to give the candidates the opportunity to speak without interruptions.
The absence of the viewers was not a tradition that was interrupted but rather a change which was ordered directly by Mr Biden’s camp.
Mr Trump noted that the president was ‘supposedly afraid of crowds’ to which he replied that he would rather have a live audience, stating, ‘nothing is more exciting’.
This means that the candidates’ microphones were muted when the other one was speaking – which was another demand from the Biden side. This came up after the first forum of 2020 whereby the talk was marred by interjection and crossing-over by the candidates.
Where is the debate taking place?
The place still remains unknown although it can be forecasted that it will take place in one of the ‘swing states’.
The first debate was held between Mr Trump and Mr Biden in Atlanta, Georgia.

What questions will the candidates be so promptly and intensively asked?
We can but expect the economy, East European and Middle Eastern wars to get full coverage.
The Harris campaign will be eager to convey the position of their candidate on abortion rights in women, which they think is going to make the difference in capturing the White House on November 5th.
Trump is likely to target Ms Harris on the decisions from the Biden-Harris regime, especially on immigration and inflation.
Is it therefore possible that there will be a second or a third debate?
Trump revealed he had invited Clinton to two other candidates’ debates the president of NBC invited in September , and the one on fox.
Asked what he will do if a Harris only agrees to the ABC debate, Trump said: “I don’t know how that’s gonna work out, but we want to do three and we believe we should do three. ”
As expected, it has come out clearly that the Harris campaign would not mind if their candidate was to participate in more than one debate.
Trump has propose an additional four debates to be conducted on the 4th of September and 25th of the same month.
Analysing their statements in relation to the announcements of the debate
In response to reporters on Thursday, Ms Harris said that she was ‘glad’ Trump ‘has finally committed’ to face her in the debate scheduled for 10th September – originally a Trump to debate Mr Biden on the same date that she had maintained her campaign on.
“I am excited for it and pray that he come,” She said.
Trump has time and again implied that Ms Harris is an ignorant woman and unfit to argue with him.
Here we are going to look at who can be said to be leading the polls.
The most recent survey undertaken by Marquette University Law School has placed Ms Harris at a six point advantage among voter likely to cast their ballot.
When will boyds hold the face off between JD Vance, the vice-presidential candidate, and Tim Walz, the incumbent governor?
The approaches by the two main parties to have their deputies face each other on television seem to lean on course after the Republican nominee JD Vance agreed to face Tim Walz, Ms Harris’s choice for the Democrats.
Walz has accepted to go head to head with his competitor in a live program on CBS on Tuesday October 1.
But Mr Vance has not said whether or not he will attend.
Shortly after he was selected as Harris’s running mate, the Minnesota governor Mr Walz told the press that he could not wait for the time when he would debate with Mr Vance.
Ms Harris and Mr Vance had a gentleman’s agreement for a debate before she replaced Mr Biden as the Democratic candidate, but no specific plans were shared.
