This film has been granted permission to interview the Research In Motion (BlackBerry) Alumni Association members, more than 40 senior managers and executives who worked for RIM at the onset of the company. This will comprise many interviews of people who have been part of the journey and several hitherto unreleased scenes and footage.

Schmidt made the 2004 Oscar-nominated film Twist of Faith for HBO and was a producer on Valentine Road that received two nominations for the News & Documentary Emmys. Other previous works of the man are the feature This Film Is Not Yet Rated and Netflix shows Chelsea Does and Ugly Delicious.

The series is produced by the company called ‘Unrealistic Ideas’ which is renowned for its impressive experience in the sphere of non-fictional dramatic stories, according to the words of Viral Nation’s CEO and co-founder, Joe Gagliese. “It’s based on our love and fascination for the role BlackBerry has played in reshaping communication and connectedness – they were the perfect partner for this project. ”

Added Unrealistic Ideas president Gips, “Eddie offers an incredible eye for Emotion and narrative storytelling; character to the assembly. And we couldn’t be more enthused to team up with the amazing crew at Viral Nation. ”

Having quoted Schmidt’s statement, the author himself pointed out his desire to ‘pitch this unpredictable real-life saga set in the technology and popular culture. ’

The story of the smartphone brand was the basis of the biographical narrative movie, BlackBerry, in which Matt Johnson is the director: the movie came out in the previous year with Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton in the cast.

The talent agent of Unrealistic Ideas is WME. For the record, Schmidt is repped by CAA.
