We Have Some Thoughts About Who Could Replace Hoda Kotb on 'Today'

So while the door may be slamming shut on the Today show, another door opens at the same time.

For the last two decades, the audience of the NBC morning series has been able to watch Hoda Kotb. However, on September 26, she satisfied her fans’ expectations by announcing that she would exit Today by early 2025. When she went public, she was to reveal several reasons why she wanted to go, and one of them was to take care of her two daughters, Haley and Hope.

But as Hoda’s scheduled resignation is in the near future, some people are might be beginning to ponder who would take her place as Hoda’s co-host of the early shows of Today. Since she co-hosts the program with Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Craig Melvin, it would require someone not shy about being a team player… and familiar with the news studio.

Who will be next on the today show after Hota Kotb?

While we don't yet know for sure who will replace Hoda on Today, we do have a number of theories about who could fill her spot on the air:

Jenna Bush Hager

Having co-hosted Today With Hoda and Jenna, Jenna Bush Hager to feel in the right place as a co-host for the show. Viewers already enjoy her; she is a part of Today’s fourth hour.

Since Hoda has a certain kind of special quality to be able to switch from delivering a serious news to giving opinions on dating, maybe Jenna too could do the same. Besides, she’d have Savannah to turn to for assistance in discussing newsworthy topics.

Laura Jarrett

Laura Jarrett, who works on Today on Saturday mornings, is the senior legal correspondent for NBC. Plus, she occasionally provides the company the co-hosts in other programs when they cannot be on air for the week.

Should replacing Hoda be Laura, she would already know how to present the current events at the table and for the viewers across the United States. Besides, Savannah is the chief legal correspondent of NBC News these two would brilliantly explain laws our country cherishes.

Carson Daly

Since Carson Daly had his beginnings as an MTV personality he certainly has a very clear understanding of the various pop culture trends. Because Hoda enjoys being up to date with the latest fashions, it would be expectant to find him attempting to deliver the big Hollywood news bulletins.

Still, there is something for the host of The Voice to remember. Of course he has significant in-depth background when it comes to the posts in which soft ‘tabloid’ news included, but he has little experience when it comes to reporting straight news on television and so it may be something to remember when NBC decides who could be the replacement for Hoda.

Sheinelle Jones

The beauty of Today’s third hour host Sheinelle Jones makes her a lady fans would love to see on TV. Regardless of whether she is fooling around with the other co-hosts or becoming emotional in various segments, she is popular and brings with her 10 years of working in Today. Also, it was discovered that she did not convey any aggression and had a friendly demeanor which well suited the rest of the cast.

Moreover, there is a piece of information Today’s fans could possibly never know about me. If NBC decides to groom Sheinelle (or Laura for that matter) to replace Hoda, then she will be the first black female co-host to feature on Today show. Of course that would be nice to see!

Willie Geist

Some of them may know Willie Geist as a part of the Sunday edition of Today show, but he works during weekdays as well. In addition to serving at NBC, he becomes an MSNBC co-anchor of Morning Joe. He also provides substitute for other co-hosts from time to time especially when they want to mostly go off air occasionally.

As Forbes has noted though, perhaps there are concerns about not wanting to lose the female element as Savannah and Hoda as co-anchors.
