Ted Lasso Moves Closer to Season 4 Return
And it seems that Ted Lasso fans may get the fourth season after all.
All of the key players involved in the new ‘Fresh Fields’ are now under contract to Warner Bros. Television: three of the cast members signed on under U. K. equity contracts during the first three seasons of the show. For season two, Hannah Waddingham was contacted, to return as Rebecca Walton, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, and Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This sets the Emmy winning soccer comedy up for season four. After those are locked in, the studio would have to come up with new deals for the other principal cast members of the show whose union is SAG-AFTRA. This involves main cast co-creator s/executive producer and star, Jason Sudeikis; main cast co-creator/producer and star, Brendan Hunt; and Juno Temple.
Representatives for WBTV did not respond to request for comment. Santha has also contacted Apple TV+ on behalf of THR.
Ideas for season four were apparently up in the air once the show finished out its intended run for three seasons in May of 2023. Several of the show’s actors announced after the SEASON THREE ending which seemed more like a conclusion to a series than a mid-series break, that the performers were not certain that there would be another year of the comedy series. Still, all the stars also stated that they want to keep on telling their stories – just perhaps not on the big screen in the same way.
All the main characters of Ted Lasso had a happy ending though Sudeikis’ Ted goes back to Kansas to be with his son and ex-spouse, Hunt’s Beard possibly got married at Stonehenge, Waddingham’s Rebecca and Temple’s Keeley are heading to start a women’s club in Richmond, and Bishop’s Roy becomes the manager of AFC Richmond and chooses to have therapy.
Back in early February, series co-creator Bill Lawrence confessed that a fourth season of the series really depended on Sudeikis who would have to move when he has two young children with ex Olivia Wilde.
‘Even without discussing with each other, and with every actor, actress, writer, producer on that show — and they did not have a sit-down we all chose this message,” Lawrence said. “As fans, we’d all kill if it was going again, but everybody would say the same thing, which is: We are cool with whatever Jason wants to do or wherever his decision will be. ”
He said: “Not only is he the star- they also had a kid, he’s the head writer, and he’s also the dude whose life just has to be completely overhauled and moved to a foreign country with young children. ” It is a big deal, as a fan, if someone is like, ‘oh it’s going to happen again,’ I will go nuts, but as his partner I am in for anything he wants to
