SNL Adds Three New Castmembers for Season 50

For the 50th season of SNL, the show will be open for three new cast members to join in the team. 
 
Three new faces have been added to the NBC late night show as the featured players for 2024-25; Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline. The season will begin at September 28, with major part of the cast from the previous season remaining intact, however Punkie Johnson and Molly Kearney said farewell to the show during the summer. Chloe Troast, who saw some playing time last season as a re sizing player is the other player leaving. 
 
“I was not invited to SNL for this year,” Troast posted in a story on Monday evening. “To be honest I wanted to return to join all the cool people that I met there it just felt like home but it was not meant to be. ” 
 
Most of the show’s remaining veterans will likely be returning to season 50, including Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker were promoted from being the featured players. Maya Rudolph a former cast member is also hopefully is set to replace the current vice president Kamala Harris, the democratic nominee for president before the election. Rudolph used Harris several times in the 2020 campaign and the first few months of Biden’s and Harris’s presidency. 
 
Other than regular episodes of SNL in the up and coming season, the show is also planning for its 50th anniversary ware on February 16 2025 as a three-hour primetime program. (The actual 50 th anniversary of the first show will be on Oct. 11, 2025. ) Furthermore and aside from the actual show, another offering from creator Lorne Michaels, Saturday Night which is a feature film about the formation of the show, was launched at the Toronto International Film Festival and is scheduled for theatrical release starting September. 
 
Since joining L. A. ’s Groundlings main company in 2021, Padilla has had guest appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Night Court. Wakim has done stand-up on The Tonight Show and the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival where he was actually named one of the ‘New Faces of Comedy’ in 2022; he has also done opening for Roy Wood Jr. Nikki Glaser as well as Hasan Minhaj. Wickline is the member of the group for Stapleview which is the sketch show that has gathered its large audience on the TikTok.
