Short N Sweet Is Officially Sabrina Carpenter’s First No. 1 Album

Sabrina Carpenter has finally joined the list of artists that have debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

Billboard on Tuesday reported that the young singer’s new song Short N’ Sweet is at this week’s top of chart as a number one hit at 25. It is Carpenter’s first album ever to reach No. 1.

Carpenter’s latest single “Taste” was streamed in the second highest ranking on Billboard Hot 100 while three songs that she released before going official as a music artist, “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” came in third and fourth positions respectively. Billboard pointed out that she becomes the third woman to achieve this feat, and she is in the company of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande who also make list of women who have had three songs in the first five on the chart at the same time.

According to Billboard, the 12-track album has the third highest first week sales of the year at 362000 equivalent album units. Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department with equivalent album units of 2. 61 million and Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter with 407 000 of album equivalent units occupies the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.

Short N’ Sweet had been expected to be out in the market well before it was launched. Carpenter posted 10 seconds of ‘Taste’ on Insta the night before the single’s actual release through the new Insta feature that lets a listener add a song to their profile.

The “Taste” video attracted a lot of attention on web. But the gory but masterfully crafted music video begins with the pop star overtly warning the viewer before Carpenter selects a range of weapons, before bursting into a sing of “Rock-a-bye baby, snug in your bed / Right now you are sleeping / And soon you’ll be… dead. ” The final touch, Carpenter taking time to apply red lipstick using the reflection of a large knife.

Miming actions, during the utterly ridiculous but entertaining video, Carpenter and Jenna Ortega fight to the death over what would seem to be Ortega’s present boyfriend, ex-boyfriend of Carpenter. The song that accompanied this scene was: “Heard you’re back together and if that’s true / You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissing you” As the two beautiful young ladies attempted to kill each other with shot guns, knives, chainsaw, dolls bewitched, etc.

In the video, Carpenter even kiss Ortega, and this leads to the death of the boyfriend. He lies in a coffin wearing black, the two women join him and being in black too they go up to bow in front of him before the screen goes blank; we see him and his friend embraced, dressed in blacanan extremely happy, holding bottles of milkshakes.

The 25-year old singer gained her first Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Please Please Please,’ which became the second track for Short n’ Sweet. The first single “Espresso” is still on the chart being at its best position number 2 in early summer and holding a position of no 12 after 20 weeks.

Carpenter is also billed for the MTV VMAs that have since shifted from sept 10 as earlier announced to Sept. 11. This is in a bid to avoid the award show clashing with the forthcoming presidency debate that will be aired at the same time.

The Short n’ Sweet Tour will begin in the fall and will be entirely sold out like the performances of the pop star. LA will be the last stop of the North American tour with the Crypto show. at the Chase Center on November 15, two in San Francisco at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on November 17 and 18.
