Ranking Oklahoma high school football best tight ends in 2024 season

Tight end is a position that is absolutely loaded with top-end talent in Oklahoma. 
 
There are many opportunities for tight ends to shine this fall, ranging from some of the nation’s top recruits at the position to some players who are expected to have breakout seasons. 
 
A good tight end can change games and create match up problems for the defense.

10. Kyng Golston, So. , Valliant 
 
A brother to Valliant senior running back Kenny Golston, Kyng made an immediate impact as a freshman playing both offense and defense as a tight end and defensive lineman. He recently excelled in football camps during the off season and received his first scholarship offer from Texas-San Antonio. 
 
9. Myles Davis, Sr. , Tulsa Union 
 
In 2023, he became an all-purpose player for the Redhawks, gaining 245 yards and scoring five touchdowns. Besides being a great tight end, Davis has a great kicking leg and is considered one of the best punters in the state. 
 
8. Riley Ellefson Sr. , Jones 

Ellefson was one of the premier players and lead blockers for Jones in the team that reached the Class 2A semifinals last year. In his junior year, Ellefson was able to catch 16 passes for 167 yards and one touchdown. He currently has several Division II offers from Central Missouri, Central Oklahoma, East Central and Missouri Southern. 
 
7. Marcus James Sr. , Carl Albert 
 
James is one of the state’s best two-way performers at linebacker and tight end. As both a blocker and receiver, the OU commit hauled in 14 passes for 272 and six touchdowns last year. 
 
6. Alexander Shieldnight Sr. , Wagoner 
 
As a junior, the OU commit excelled in almost every position that the Bulldogs coaches assigned him to on offense and defense. Shieldnight is a three-star recruit based on the 247 Sports Composite ratings and contributed 502 receiving yards and four touchdowns to Wagoner’s team to advance to the Class 4A state title game. 

5. Jon Grimmett, Sr. , Pauls Valley 
 
Grimmett pledged to UNLV during the summer. The 6-foot-4, 210 pounder is targeting a 1,000 yard season after achieving 308 yards in receptions and four touchdowns in junior year. He also made 68 tackles and two interceptions in the Panthers’ secondary. 
 
4. Cord Nolan, Jr. , Bixby 
 
Although his primary position is a linebacker, Nolan has demonstrated his ability to make a game changing play on offense and defense. Nolan had 23 receptions for 632 yards and 10 touchdowns at the tight end position in his sophomore year. He currently has offers from Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Texas Tech and Tulsa. 
 
3. CJ Nickson Sr. , Weatherford 
 
Nickson has been exceptional in offense and defense for Weatherford as a four-star player. The OU commit has been the best defensive lineman in the state and has also accumulated over 1,500 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in the first three seasons as a tight end. 
 
2. Dakotah Terrell Sr. , Pocola 
 
Terrell was a leading force on both offense and defense throughout the previous season, which was a Class A playoff campaign. The three-star recruit caught 29 passes for 549 yards and seven touchdowns. Terrell has been receiving invitations from Arkansas, Florida, OU, Oklahoma State, Michigan, and Texas A&M among others. 
 
1. Nate Roberts, Sr. , Washington 
 
Roberts has aided Washington in winning back to back Class 2A championships and is ranked as the third-best tight end prospect in the country in his class by the 247Sports Composite. The Ohio State commit had a much more productive season for the Warriors with 41 receptions for 816 yards and 8 touchdowns for one of the best offenses in the state.
