Ohio high school basketball: See the schedule for the inaugural Holiday Hoopla showcase

The game against perennial state champion Richmond Heights for the Northland boys basketball team and the finale of two Division I powers are some of highlights of the first Holiday Hoopla High School Basketball Showcase in December. 
 
These were revealed on July 30 when the 34 teams for the event were made known and the schedule was made available this Wednesday morning. The Holiday Hoopla is scheduled for Dec. 27-29 at Greater Columbus Convention Center. 
 
Northland, which recently lost standout junior King Kendrick when he transferred to Caldwell Academy in Greensboro, N. C. , takes on a Richmond Heights team that has won the previous three Division IV championships and is is Division V this year due to the the OHSAA’s realignment of tournament divisions. The last one is the last of the six games for the first day. 
 
Second-seeded and Division I regional runner-up Olentangy Orange will play third-seeded and 2024 state runner-up Centerville in the final game at 8:15 p. m, December 29th. 
 
Other teams that are participating from central Ohio are, 2024 Division III state runner up Harvest Prep, Division one state semifinalist Delaware Hayes, Dublin Coffman, Dublin Jerome, Gahanna Lincoln, Hartley, Hilliard Bradley, Johnstown, Marysville, Pickerington Central, Pickerington North, Reynoldsburg, Walnut Ridge, West, Westerville Central and Westerville South. 
 
The same extends to Bleacher Prospect, Bleacher South and Neo Classification. 
 
Ticket prices cost between $15 and $50 and more details are availed on the website. Special access such as day pass and ticket for a single game are provided.

Columbus State University’s three central Ohio teams will be participating in Shot Clock Shootout. 
 
The remaining Saturday before Christmas also will hold the Shot Clock Shootout at Canton McKinley, Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association sanctioned event, featuring 15 games. 
 
The OHSBCA was able to have approval from the OHSAA to implement a shot clock in the game which is however unlawful in Ohio. 
 
“Information and data will be collected from this event to further the conversation regarding the use of shot clock in the coming years within the state of Ohio,” OHSBCA executive director Joe Balogh said. 
 
Three central Ohio teams are in the field: Lakewood and Worthington Christian also for boys and Olentangy for girls. 
 
Coraopolis (Pennsylvania) Moon Area will face Worthington Christian at 5:15 p. m. Dec. 27. 
 
Olentangy’s girls play Stow at 5:15 p. m. Dec 29 After that final event of the game is Lakewood’s boys who play stow. 
 
The field of play for the Shot Clock Shootout and the schedule was released this past Tuesday.
