Industry’ Star Marisa Abela Asked to Tone Down Sex Scenes in Season 3 I’m More Aware of the Implications
Speaking to the Guardian recently and after filming three seasons of Industry, Marisa Abela was relieved she realized she “is more careful now about what it is that’s being seen we do have to … be mindful.”
The HBO banking drama series, Yasmin, the actress recently in an interview with the Times of London said though she liked the fact that Yasmin was very comfortable with her sexuality, the actress has had to learn for herself necessary that she must not go for what she is not comfortable in while shooting a scene.
Not that I do deny that part too actively or bluntly, the sex part. I realize it is just a show and I really belong here. I guess I am just more cautious now of what it is that is exposed,” said Abela. “On the nudity issue, I have initially had no problem with being naked when I was still in season one or two — it’s like, ‘If it was part of the contract, then I will.’ This was Yasmin and at the same time this is all about Yasmin because she loves herself, and she is very liberal, especially when it comes to herself. So I did not find a lot of sentiment to it.”
The Back to Black star went on to say: “It’s not like anyone would have made me do something that I didn’t want to do, but I didn’t necessarily want to question the directors. Now, however, I suppose the consequences of doing it again and again are striking me as a good deal more obvious. And, I was more sensitive to the fact that I can tell someone, You know, can you please do not come around from the front? He has the idea from my back I have nothing else on.”
Abela said in an interview to the newspaper that she decided to take the role of the publishing heiress turned financial analyst because “it was fun to play a young woman who is not fearfully ashamed of her own body.”
“Her flaws, the gaping holes in her confidence, are not attributable to her sexual appeal, her sexiness, her figure — that is, in fact where she draws most of her strength from,” the Rogue Agent actress said. “And she goes on the tell the world that she is well at ease and therefore people feel easy on her physically.”
The current season three of Industry which also features Myha’la, Harry, Lawtey, Leung and Sagar Radia is airing on HBO. It has has also been determined that the show has also been renewed for a third season as well as for a fourth season.
