High school football: City Section preseason top 10 rankings

Having won 42 games in a row against City Section rivals, and winning four straight City Section Open Division titles, Birmingham has been the team to beat in City football. 
 
It will be under pressure this season: Its reign will be threatened. 
 
A number of significant roster shuffling occurred, the team will have a freshman to perhaps begin the year playing quarterback and still the management of the team will expect to challenge for the title by end of the season. 
 
Here is a look at the preseason top ten: 
 
1. BIRMINGHAM. Linebacker Eddie plaza, running back Dredon Fowles top a team that many believe that will have to start growing from game one up to game ten. 
 
2. SAN PEDRO. Linemen are back trying to make a team play in the best league that the City Section has to offer The big-play weapon is Dylan Rubino. 
 
3. CARSON. Chris Fields will be a sophomore who will play as a quarterback together with the swift Kamryn Hurst in the coming season. 
 
4. BANNING. The everdynamic Steven Perez has the misfortune of commanding a hardnosed, determined Pilots. 
 
5. NARBONNE. Even as the program takes baby steps to regain its equilibrium, quarterback Jaden O’Neal gives Gauchos a chance to rally behind. 
 
6. PALISADES. Linebacker Jake Treibatch is excellent and at quarterback Loyola transfer Jack Thomas can be a game-changer. 
 
7. GARFIELD. The Bulldogs have one fine running back in Robert Sanchez and a few decent linemen to develop into starters. 
 
8. KING/DREW. It’s a problem of depth but this is a talented and promising team. 
 
9. GARDENA. Looking at some of the players to watch out for is running back Xavier Grant. 
 
10. VENICE. Sophomore quarterback Jaiden Noel knows he has good targets to throw to.
