Harris could present a new challenge for Netanyahu: From the Politics Desk

Mr. Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Washington with an agenda of being given a podium for the Gaza policy.

Instead, he found that all eyes are turned to Joe Biden in his decision to end the campaign — and the new Democratic leader, Kamala Harris, who has paid more attention to how the Israel conducts the war and the impact that it has on the civilians unlike Biden till recently.

But when the Israeli leader came to the White House for an Oval Office meeting he yearned for more than three years, the cost was another session of listening to the bitter tales of American hostages’ families. They have already accused him of political attitude by inviting him to visit and stating that he should remain in Israel to work on the evacuation of relatives.

The clever Israeli politician also may have overplayed his hand in going public in an effort to influence the outcome the U. S. election. After positioning himself to be invited by the Republican House speaker to deliver the third of his unprecedented and controlling speeches before Congress, he did a side trip to Mar-a-Lago on Friday and only slouched at a televised photo session as Trump referred to Harris, the vice-presidential candidate of Joe Biden as a “radical left person” and a “destroyer,” wondering how a person who is Jewish could vote for her.

Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, is Jewish and has been giving speeches throughout the U. S. about the incidence of hatred being on the rise. Netanyahu also did not demur when his publicly-elected national security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, endorsed Trump this week for president, which is considered insolent.

Concerning Harris, who personally only met Netanyahu once before during her visit to Israel as a senator in 2017, the woman quite vividly demonstrated her political muscles in the first ever direct confrontation with him. It was regularly Harris who gave comments, while her Israeli guest was present; the remarks she made were quite a concise overview of their discussions. She later appeared on television stating her stand insisting that it was time for a cessation of the hostilities in view of the human sufferings that the war was causing. One of the senior Israeli officials later bitterly complained to the reporters on the condition of anonymity about the vice president and accused her of overemphasizing the need for ending the war.

But in the end, it is Netanyahu who could have been outplayed by a very unique personality of an American politician with whom he is said to have hardly interacted. This attitude of Harris toward taking care of the military objectives, on the one hand, and saving the hostages on the other hand is more suitable for the American and Israeli people than Moshe Dayan’s one, the experienced Israeli leader.

The first week of Vance’s candidacy on the GOP ticket was necessarily devoted to responding to various attacks.

Ohio Sen. JD Vance has not had much of a honeymoon.

In only his first week of being on the campaign trail for Trump, the Ohio Republican found himself battling for media spotlight with a change of ticket at the Democratic side.

Again much of what has been said about Vance has been distracting at best and uncomplimentary at worst. His critics, led by the progresses, preferred his almost three years old statement about ‘childless cat ladies’ — which he applied to Harris, a stepmother to two. Journalists focused on the fact that a number of opinion polls pointed to the fact that there are still a large number of voters who have not been convinced about Vance. Some others remained anxious issuing blank conjecture about the type of regret that Trump may be feeling now over the selection of his vice partner.

At the same time, the leftist big-mouths and social-media personalities have been relentlessly harassing Vance, largely without any mention of Trump. And Harris’ emerging White House bid has paid especially close attention to the No. 2 person on the Republican ticket. One campaign news release on Friday had a headline that accused Vance of being anti abortion, and called him a creep.

The announcements of a running mate and the party convention are also two of the best shots a presidential campaign has at getting a lot of positive media and voter reaction. A case in point is polling conducted shortly after Biden chose Harris as his vice-presidential candidate in 2020; a majority of voters approved the decision boosting their campaign.

A New York Times/Siena poll of registered voters after last week’s Republican National Convention discovered that a plurality of respondents who regarded Vance had a somewhat or very unfavorable opinion about him. Early reviews were slighting in 2016 which were for Mike Pence the Republican vice presidential candidate who tasted a net favorable Gallup Poll at the time.

A Republican strategist, speaking on the condition of anonymity to offer a candid assessment, said Vance is in danger of violating the basic requirement of a running mate: “As to the second point, there is famous ‘Rule No. 1 of being VP: do no harm. ’Very much alike, increasing shareholders’ value does no harm per se as well but could be really challenging. ”

“It is the process of moving from Double A baseball to the Major Leagues in totality,” the strategist furthered. “It’s like everything in life, there is a certain amount of time that everyone takes to get used to it. Those who cannot get used to it are those who can’t manage it. ”
