Georgia High School Football Rankings: Top 25 teams – Oct. 6
A week of changes because of Hurricane Heline a lot of high school football games was back on in Georgia on the weekend. There have been a number of marquee games slated for the week, which have influenced the new look state ranking.
Rankings are settled differently and for the second week in a row there is a new no.1 on the list as well as two new teams in the top 25 and one new team in the top ten of the state list.
Below are the top 25 rankings heading into the second week of October in the Peach State:
The On3 Massey Ratings which were used formally in BCS times and are estimating college high school sports teams rankings since 1995 are based on the evaluation of game results, schedule difficulty, and winning point difference.

1. Carrollton
Previous Rank: No. 2 (+1)
Following a bye week after their dismantling of Alabama No. 9 Parker, Carrollton easily disposed Atlanta Westlake 63-27 powered once more by five-star quarterback Julian Lewis. The Trojans now have two games that will see them as massive favorites before their regular season finale senior bow against tenth ranked Douglas County.
2. Lee County
Previous Rank: No. 2 (-1)
The Trojans have moved down to the 2nd place after the game against the No. 9 Coffee was postponed to a week because of the hurricane-related problems. This has the parking lot almost touching Carrollton and a win this week will likely have them back on top.
3. Milton
Previous Rank: No. 3
Milton made it four games in a row of scoring more than 40 points when they surfaced 44-7 against Lanier on Friday night. It does get substantially more difficult this weekend however, as they’ll play No. 18 Gainesville in what should be a match to remember.
4. Buford
Previous Rank: No. 5 (+1)
After a week off, the Wolves were sharp and sharp in their 34-7 dismantling of then No.12 Collins Hill. New junior quarterback Dayton Raiola also performed well and Buford expected to be favored in the next three games.
5. North Gwinnett
Previous Rank: No. 4 (-1)
North Gwinnett, currently boasts a 6-0 record as they dominated Peachtree Ridge 44-22 on Friday night. The marking is small though they will be back on the pitch on Wednesday in a washout game against 1-5 Berkmar.
6. North Cobb
Previous Rank: No. 6
North Cobb is now sitting at 6-0 and after handling Walton 42-14 two weeks ago. Our next match is a tilt against 1-5 Marietta on the 11th after a couple of bye weeks.
7. Grayson
Previous Rank: No. 7
Originally, Grayson’s game was moved to Monday night due to Hurricane Helene but in another twist, it was moved again because of the chemical fire in Rockdale County on Sunday, said the school. The Rams were to have faced Heritage on Friday night in this fixture but that was to be played this coming Wednesday.
8. Thomas County Central
Previous Rank: No. 8
Thomas County Central finished a job against Veterans by winning by a wide margin, 61-10. Now 6-1, they’ll go into the bye and then play two ranked teams in their last three games of the season.
9. Coffee
Previous Rank: No. 9
The Trojans were getting ready to play against second-ranked Lee County but the game was moved to this Friday due to the aftermath of the hurricane.
10. Douglas County
Previous Rank: No. 11 (+1)
Douglas County moves up the list into the top ten for the first time this year following a 42-17 victory over East Coweta on friday night Ihr Aufregung über das Spiel gegen East Coweta am Freitag (42:17) steht ihnen im Hier und Jetzt. They will host Westlake this coming weekend before moving to their only break of the season.
