EVA Air Unveils New “Besties” Hello Kitty Plane

In the past week alone, Hello Kitty, the character to turn 50 on Nov. 1, has entered into partnerships with McDonald’s Happy Meal with Japanese manga Yu-Gi-Oh, Katy Perry’s shoe collection, strawberry-flavored Goldfish and even Boeing 777. 
 
On Thursday, Taiwanese airline EVA air introduced the first ever ‘besties’ Hello Kitty Boeing 777-300ER feel a touch of the theme when this arrived at the Chicago O ‘Hare airport, water salute. In the party with pink atmosphere which made everybody seems so kiddy, the cuteness was there, offered cake and apple juice. This is the fourth generation plane in a deal between the worldwide popular franchise Sanrio, creator of Hello Kitty, and Taiwan’s EVA Air which has been existing for nearly two decades. In addition to the main character — the girl who is not a cat despite people often calling this character a ‘hello kitty’ — the Besties motif used on the products replaces the Little Twin Stars ‘Shining Star’ design, which features My Melody and Kuromi bunnies. The theme starts as soon as passengers enter the cabin and are seated in her cute world with the theme in headrests, slippers, specially created place setting by Tadao Ando and a kids’ meal which according to the EVA Air’s president Clay Sun is also much-loved by adults. 
 
A toy plane and a three dimensional puzzle is the merch available for purchase at the duty-free shop while there are also the Sanrio-EVA co-brand merchandise still to come. From Taipei-Chicago: There are to be three flights, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday during summer schedule and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in winter schedule marked as “Besties”.
