Elle Macpherson Opted Out of Chemotherapy After Being Diagnosed With Breast Cancer 7 Years Ago
Supermodel Elle Macpherson has revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago and this is the first time she has talked about it to the media.
In an interview with women’s weekly, the Australian model and businesswoman described the feeling she got when the doctors called to tell her she had been diagnosed with HER2 positive estrogen receptive intraductal carcinoma. They recommended her to take chemotherapy, but she decided to take a comprehensive method of handling the disease.
“It was a shock it was unexpected it was confusing, it was daunting in so many ways,” she said. “And it really did provide me with a chance to kind of search down inside and find a solution that I could employ for myself I recognized that was going to need my own truth my own beliefs to carry me through it And that is what I did So, I loved it, it was an excellent exercise in integrity being true to myself believing in myself believing in the way that my body is going.
In addition to the mastectomy with radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and reconstruction of Macpherson’s breast, her doctor advised her, she said yes to “an intricately, instinctively, soulfully and integratively, comprehensive approach” after consulting 32 doctors and gurus.
“I came to the understanding that there was no sure thing and absolutely no guarantees. There was no ‘right’ way, just the right way for me,” she wrote in her new book Elle: Life, Lessons and Learning to Trust Yourself, due for release in the United States on November 19. “I went natural. Refusing conventional treatments was the toughest decision of my entire life Ditto upon refusing my instincts. ”
For the entire treatment period Macpherson consulted main physician, doctor of naturopathy, holistic dentist, osteopath, chiropractor and two therapists. She also talked to Olivia Newton John who also passed on in 2022 after suffering from breast cancer, she used both conventional medical treatments and natural ones.
“Yes, I was in touch couple of times when he was diagnosed and also through
and both of our healing journeys”, the Friends actress said. “We did things differently, yet, we can talk and exchange stories on how it was and how we do things too when it comes to emotions and tendencies or instincts. ”
Now, after investing a lot of time in healing herself, Macpherson said that she is in clinical remission according to all medical standards “but I would say I’m in utter wellness. ”
“Honestly, in every aspect, in lab tests, blood tests, every scan, every investigative imaging test … and mentally and emotionally, spiritually,” she continued. “It is not about what your blood tests are, it’s more of how you are alive in your everyday existence. ”
