Cate Blanchett Goes Viral for Closing Car Door on Kevin Kline at ‘Disclaimer’ Premiere

Whether it is through her Volpi Cup-winning performances in movies such as I’m Not There or Tár, or by ‘dramatically’ turning heads in fabulous red carpet gowns, Blanchett seems to own the Venice Film Festival. However, this past year the Academy Award winner brough a little humor as well.

Speaking to the press to promote her latest lead role, which she bagged in Disclaimer, the new limited series by Alfonso Cuáron for Apple TV+ platform, Blanchett jokingly said that she might be going “naked” to the red carpet premiere on Thursday evening. Of course, she was only being sarcastic, and asking her about her fashion plan was very much a serious question following a gown she wore to the Cannes Film Festival in May and whether or not this signaled her solidarity with Palestine. But the answer was good enough to make the pleasures of the festival press laugh if it was only for a joke.

Later that night Blanchett was trending online for all the wrong reasons when she left Lexus ride to the Disclaimer premiere at Palazzo del Cinema and knocked on co-star Kevin Kline. Cuáron was agile in coming to the rescue and sounded the alarm to Blanchett as both of them righted the ridiculousness that happened on X, or what is now known as Twitter. It might have been her back was to the camera, but it seemed as if everybody, including her was laughing. Crisis averted!

Regarding Disclaimer the ith first four episodes were shown at the festival and when it was over the audience clapped for a very long time and they were standing. The show, that has seven episodes, is developed by Apple Studios and its free adaptation is based on the book of the same title written by Renée Knight. Other talented actors in the movie are; Sacha Baron-Cohen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, Hoyeon, and Indira Varma – the latter who gives the voice narration.

It stars Blanchett as Catherine Ravenscroft, a successful journalists who has made a career out of unmasking the vices and scorned deeds of others. As she takes the novel from an unknown author, she gets shocked knowing that she has now become the main character of a novel containing her worst things. Disclaimer will begin broadcasting all over the world on Apple TV+ on the 11th of October premiering with two episodes, and subsequent episodes will be released every Friday.
