Bella Hadid Responds to Adidas Campaign Controversy Antisemitism Has No Place in the Liberation of the Palestinian People

The controversy that has erupted around the shoot featuring shoes from Adidas that were conceived under the invention of the 1972 Munich Games has received a response from Bella Hadid on Monday. 
 
The ”SL 72 “ running shoe campaign , launched this month, is interpreted with reference to the Munich Olympic Games ’52 where 11 Israeli coaches and athletes were killed by Palestinians. While the shoes and the campaign as a whole did not refer to the sad event, a statement of the US-based Jewish Committee, Which supports Israel , criticized Hadid’s participation in the campaign due to the model’s support of the Palestinian civilian aid in Gaza during the war between Hamas and the Israeli Defense Forces. 
 
“For Adidas to select an outspoken anti-Israel model to advertise this dark Olympics is either negligence or a deliberately provocative act: Either way it cannot be right,” the statement said. 
 
Hadid stated this in a detailed Instagram story on Monday about not being aware of the identification of the work identified with a horrendous incident of any sort. “Thus, prior to the launching of the campaign, I had no information on the historical link to the terrible occurrences in 1972.
I am shocked; I am upset, and I am disappointed with the insensitivity portrayed in this campaign. Know, from my very heart, that had I been informed of this detail, I would not have been part of it. ” 
 
In the case of the shoes in question, Hadid further clarified that she, her entourage, and Adidas’s team “should have done more research,” and if the organ doping narrative was made known to her prior to its use, she would not have tolerated it. 
 
“As I have done, and will do it in the future as well, for I raise my voice whenever I see something as being wrong,” she added. “Despite the good intentions of all, the resulting miscommunication of the various stakeholders proved to be counterproductive than productive for the art piece’s goal of uniting people through art. I do not support hate in any form, let alone antisemitism. I will never be tolerant of such a sentiment, and it is my truth. ” 
 
He continued by denouncing the relation between the concept of ‘the liberation of the Palestinian people’ and an antisemite act, and stated that ‘Palestine is not equal to terrorism, and this campaign served to emphasize an event, which does not reflect who we are, incoincidentally’.

Adidas, in a statement published by The Hollywood Reporter after the said it was ‘revising’ it Munich Games retro running shoe campaign it released due to political and historical reasons. “We are aware that there were associations with some unfortunate historical occurrences — this was not our intention at all — and we’d like to apologies for any discomfort it caused. We are going to redesign the further part of the campaign. We support diversity and equality through sport and will proceed with our activities in this area.
