Amy Poehler to Receive Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter Award at Bring Change to Mind Gala

Amy Poehler is up for primetime honors as the keynote speaker at the BC2M’s 12th annual Revels & Revelations affair.

The talented Inside Out 2 actor will be honored by being awarded the prestigious Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter. Presented by the late icon’s children, Zak, Zelda, and Cody, the award is given to entertainers ‘who bring the gift of laughter and lift the veil off darkness, misinformation, and suffering; share their truths in ways that unify rather than divide, that tell others ‘You are not alone’ and through many acts, make the world a better, happier, place.’ In past years, Ryan Reynolds, Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Ben Stiller, the Smith Family, Dan and Eugene Levy and Melissa McCarthyere.

Poehler will accept during an event held at a private residence in Woodside, Calif., on World Mental Health Day on Wednesday, October 10. The Bay Area fundraiser will be hosted by Erich Bergen, an accomplished stage and screen actor in television, film, and theater and who has been a B.C.E. & G.L.E.N.N.CLOSE ‘s BC2M nonprofit events collaborator for several previous fundraising events as an event producer and host.

The Revels & Revelations program will also see Wayne Brady, who is a BC2M ambassador, receive the Champion of Change award for his activism and support for the org’s high school students. Joining the event will also be Billy Eichner and Chase Stokes, who will also make their appearances during the event. What’s more, the star of Outer Banks has collaborated with BC2M as a booster and promoter starting from the year 2020. This special auction will feature live auction by star host Scott Nevins. Raising Change Executive Producers are Gilead Foundation, Wheels Up and the St. Regis as a premier sponsors.

Amy’s reflection of joy and mindfulness in her work and Wayne’s dedication to raising awareness of mental illness, works perfectly with the mission of Bring Change to Mind. It’s quite fulfilling to honor their contribution as they help in funding a difference in the conversation on mental health.

Close established BC2M in 2010 as a national organization whose mission is to eliminate prejudice and prejudice of mental disorders to support research scientists to improve the quality of lives of teens and adults. Close herself has a vested interest in the disease as her sister Jessie suffers from bipolar disorder, while her nephew Calen has schizoaffective disorder.
