Adria Arjona in Talks to Star In, Executive Produce Adam Wingard Action Thriller ‘Onslaught’ (Exclusive)

Adria Arjona, who appeared opposite Glen Powell in Netflix’s Hit Man, is in final negotiations to star in and executive produce Onslaught, the latest feature project from Godzilla x Kong: The press about the New Empire was released by the creator of this movie, Adam Wingard. 
 
A24 scooped the film’s production after outbidding others in an auction earlier in the spring. It also stars Simon Barrett, with whom Wingard has worked with in most of his previous projects. The two made cult movies, You’re Next and The Guest. 
 
This project is being scripted by Wingard together with Barrett and the latter plans to be behind the camera direction once the shooting begins in New Mexico this year. 
 
There are many details for Onslaught stored at an experimental complex, although its nature is described as a gonzo action horror thriller. As far as its scale is concerned, the movie to is said to be much closer to Wingard’s earlier films, all of which are his original works, before he went and created Godzilla Vs Kong and Godzilla x Kong. 
 
From news reports, Arjona will act as a mother who is forced to use a certain skill set in order to defend the lives of her family after she becomes a target of a menace that emanates from a clandestine military compound. 
 
The film Onslaught will be produced by Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett for their Ryder Picture Company along with A24 and by Alexander Black for Lyrical Media. Barrett will also write and direct with ton and Kaplow producing through their newly-formed banner, Breakaway Civilization, together with Wingard and his manager, Jeremy Platt. 
 
Lyrical and A24 will be the sources of the finance. Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers of Lyrical will also be the executive producers along with the company A24. 
 
The part could be a boon for Arjona, as Wingard has demonstrated the ability to give weight and dimension to a female lead in You’re Next as well as turn Maika Monroe, star of Longlegs, into a breakout star with The Guest. 
 
Arjona received good reviews for her performance alongside Powell in the sensual and suave Hit Man, the film which premiered in Netflix in June. And more recently, she was seen in Zoe Kravitz’s debut directorial venture – Blink Twice, she will be returning for the second season of Andor, the highly praised Star Wars series starring Diego Luna. Andor returns in 2025. 
 
The actress also takes on the lead role alongside assuming the producer’s role in the independent film Los Frikis which is a drama based in Cuba during early 1990s. The movie has been very successful on the awards circuit and the festival circuit, the movie won the Marimbas award at the Miami International Film festival.
